Newt Gingrich on the hype over the Obama puppy. Of course, he’s right, in the sense that a puppy isn’t really important political news. That’s sort of the point. There’s enough bad news recently that adorable girls get adorable puppy makes a reasonable counterpoint. And it’s fun watching Obama’s apparent skepticism about puppies being overruled by his daughters.
But that’s not the reason I posted this quote. Newt Gingrich is frequently mentioned as a probable Republican candidate in 2012. (I predict he’ll do about as well as Chris Dodd.) Who wouldn’t want to make this into a misleading attack ad.

Puppies = fairly stupid. Ripping up tea bags in protest of, well, i’m still not really sure what they’re protesting with that = an awesomely intelligent idea that will return the GOP to prominence. Yeah, that sounds like a winning plan.
